Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee has proposed introducing automated processing of passenger customs declarations submitted by individuals.
The draft document has been published on the portal for public discussion of draft regulatory acts, SOVAZ. Public consultation on the initiative will continue until 25 October.
The draft proposes adding a definition of automated processing to the instructions for completing and processing passenger customs declarations.
Under the proposed procedure, customs authorities’ systems would process declarations using specialised algorithms without the involvement of staff.
Only declarations classified as low-risk by the Customs Committee’s risk management system would qualify for automated processing.
Such declarations must not contain information about currency valuables, goods prohibited from import or export, or products subject to mandatory declaration.
Under the draft, automated processing would not require an electronic digital signature from a customs officer.
The document remains at the public consultation stage, meaning the proposed procedure has not yet entered into force.
Earlier, in late September 2026, the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services introduced an option to submit passenger customs declarations online.
The service allows citizens to declare in advance goods imported for personal use, including mobile phones, household appliances, jewellery and other valuables.
The completed online declaration must be presented to a customs officer when crossing the state border. The service is free of charge.
