Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent Region Governor Zoir Mirzaev discussed prospects for localising the production of municipal and special-purpose vehicles in Uzbekistan with the management of the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), as well as manufacturing automotive components and developing service infrastructure, the press service of the Tashkent Region administration reported.
A regional delegation visited the Belarusian enterprise during a working trip to Belarus. The Uzbek representatives reviewed production processes and held talks on expanding industrial cooperation and implementing joint investment projects.
During a meeting with MAZ Director General Valery Ivankovich, Mirzaev noted the company’s active presence in the Uzbek market. The sides considered opportunities to launch new manufacturing projects and make broader use of existing industrial capacity.
One of the main topics was the potential localisation of MAZ vehicle production at the Nurafshon-maxsus-texnika plant, which manufactures products under the Krantas brand. The discussions focused in particular on garbage trucks, tankers and truck-mounted cranes.
The participants also discussed prospects for renewing public transport and freight vehicle fleets in cities across Tashkent Region. To support phased modernisation and reduce the immediate financial burden, they proposed exploring instalment payment options and leasing arrangements for vehicle supplies.
Another area of discussion was the possible production of automotive components, including frame parts. The sides also considered training technical specialists, exchanging engineering expertise, and opening an MAZ service centre and spare-parts warehouse in the region.
In July 2026, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Nurafshon-maxsus-texnika plant in Nurafshon. The enterprise manufactures special-purpose and freight vehicles, military equipment, tractors, vehicle superstructures and mechanisms under the Krantas brand.
According to previously published data, the plant project was valued at US$50 million. Its equipment comes from the United States, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Russia, China and Türkiye.
