Uzbekistan and Georgia Deepen Tourism Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —Uzbekistan and Georgia intend to intensify cooperation in the tourism sector, focusing on the joint promotion of tourism products, the development of partnerships between tour operators, and the increase of mutual tourist flows.
New agreements provide for the holding of business events, familiarization tours, and the development of combined routes aimed at international travelers.
These issues were the key topic of a meeting between Abdulaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Natia Kvachantiradze, Chairperson of the Georgian Tourism Association, along with representatives of leading Georgian tourism companies.
The parties discussed prospects for expanding bilateral interaction, including promoting Uzbekistan's tourism potential in the Georgian market and attracting foreign tourists visiting Georgia to travel to Uzbekistan as part of combined itineraries.
Special attention was paid to the development of practical cooperation between representatives of the tourism industry. Priority initiatives include organizing regular B2B meetings within the framework of international tourism exhibitions and forums, establishing direct partnerships between Georgian and Uzbek tour operators, and expanding business contacts between market participants.
One of the key areas of cooperation will be the creation and promotion of new tourism products. Plans include actively promoting routes through Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and Tashkent in the Georgian market, as well as programs uniting Silk Road landmarks. Furthermore, the parties intend to develop cultural, gastronomic, ecological, and wine tourism that meets the modern demands of international travelers.
Following the negotiations, concrete agreements were reached on organizing mutual familiarization visits for tour operators and conducting seminars, presentations, and professional workshops for tourism business representatives. As early as August 2026, leading Georgian tour operators and travel agents will visit Uzbekistan as part of a special familiarization info-tour, which will allow for a detailed overview of the country’s tourism capabilities.
The Georgian side also received an invitation to participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair, which will take place in November 2026 and will serve as one of the largest professional platforms for the tourism industry in the region.
Experts note that the agreements reflect a transition in Uzbek-Georgian cooperation from merely exchanging tourist flows to forming a long-term partnership between representatives of the tourism industry.
Joint promotion of routes, the development of combined tours, and the strengthening of business contacts are expected to increase the competitiveness of both destinations in the international tourism market and create additional opportunities for attracting foreign travelers.
