Employment Fraud Scheme to Germany Uncovered in Bukhara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Law enforcement authorities in the Bukhara region have uncovered an employment fraud scheme involving promises to secure jobs for citizens in Germany. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, according to the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the territorial administration of the department for the Bukhara region established that a citizen, identified as B.R., gained the trust of three individuals by falsely claiming to have worked in Germany for many years.

The suspect assured the victims that he could arrange their travel and employment in Germany through allegedly high-ranking acquaintances. Under this pretext, he fraudulently obtained US$19,800 and 2 million soums from the victims.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 168 (fraud) and Articles 28 and 211 (complicity in bribery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Investigative actions are currently underway.
