Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to modernize the Uzbek State Circus and transform it into a modern cultural and tourist attraction, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said.
Practical work to develop the activities of the Creative Association of Circus Arts and Variety Performances has begun as part of the implementation of Presidential Decree No. PF–103 of 2 June, titled “On Large-Scale Measures for the Further Development of Culture, Art and Literature.”
Davron Vakhabov, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, visited the Uzbek State Circus together with members of the Public Council. During the visit, they reviewed the facility's current condition, infrastructure and potential for further development.
Participants discussed adapting the circus's operations to modern requirements, attracting entrepreneurs and making more effective use of the facility's tourism potential.
Among the proposals was the creation of a permanent exhibition and cultural-entertainment venue with a capacity of 2,500 people, improvements to the area surrounding the circus and the development of a more attractive environment for tourists. The measures are expected to increase visitor numbers.
Plans also include addressing existing infrastructure problems. Modern ventilation and heating systems are to be installed in the building, while leaks caused by rainwater entering through the roof are also to be resolved.
Foreign consulting companies from Russia, China and France are expected to be involved in developing a comprehensive technical and economic business plan for the circus's development.
At the same time, all changes and repair work must comply with legislation on the protection of cultural heritage. The projects will be coordinated with the Agency for Cultural Heritage in accordance with established procedures.
Under the initiatives, the Uzbek State Circus is intended to become a modern venue combining cultural and exhibition activities, entrepreneurship, entertainment services and tourism.
