Uzbek Heatwave Does Not Increase Ambulance Calls

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's emergency medical service has maintained a stable workload despite the ongoing heatwave, Abduboitjon Gafurov, director of the Republican Emergency Medical Center, said.

According to the Ministry of Health, the nationwide "103" emergency service received 166,726 calls over the past four days. All requests were processed in accordance with established procedures, and patients received timely medical assistance.

The ministry said there had been no significant increase in call volumes compared with the previous four-day period, from 9 to 12 July. Health officials attributed the stable workload to the widespread dissemination of heat safety recommendations through the media and social networks.

Gafurov said people with chronic cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, diabetes, older adults, pregnant women and children remain the most vulnerable during periods of extreme heat. He stressed the importance of continuous medical monitoring for these groups and the timely provision of emergency care.

The Ministry of Health advised residents to avoid being outdoors during the hottest hours of the day whenever possible, drink sufficient amounts of water, and limit the consumption of fatty, fried and excessively salty foods in favor of lighter meals and vegetable salads.
