Uzbek border guards kill one Afghan citizen, detain 44 drugs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbek border guards killed an Afghan citizen and detained another while attempting to smuggle drugs into Uzbekistan on 25 November, Uzbek TV’s Akhborot news programme reported on 3 December.

The report said the Afghan citizens were attempting to smuggle over 44 kg of opium and hashish into southernmost Surkhandarya region.

Criminal proceedings were launched into the case. An investigation is under way, the report added.
