US delegation pays visit to Committee on Religious Affairs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the United States led by Deputy Assistant State Secretary on democracy, human rights, and labor Jane B. Zimmerman paid visit to the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on 18 July 2013.

According to the press service of the committee, chairperson of the Committee on Religious Affairs Ortukbek Yusupov received the delegation.

The Uzbek side briefed the US delegation on religious situation in Uzbekistan, reforms in the sector, as well as conditions created for inter-religious tolerance.

Jane B. Zimmerman also shared with her views, including about talks and meetings at the organizations in Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America George Krol participated at the meeting.
