Two Women Caught Smuggling US$240,000 Out of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Customs officers at the Navoi border post in the Tashkent region intercepted an attempt by two female citizens of a neighboring state to illegally export US$240,000 in cash from Uzbekistan.
According to the Customs Committee press service, officers discovered the concealed currency during a passenger inspection. One woman was carrying US$80,000, while the second had US$160,000 hidden under her clothing. The banknotes were secured in bundled bricks and taped directly to their lower legs.
Video footage released by the Customs Committee shows officers removing the taped currency packages from the women's legs. The undeclared cash seized during the inspection totaled US$240,000.
