Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The 11th Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art, titled “Event Horizon,” will be held in Tashkent from 12 to 16 October.
Works by international and Uzbek artists will be presented at leading museums and galleries across the capital. The program will also include a trip to Samarkand, giving international guests an opportunity to combine an exploration of contemporary art with Uzbekistan’s historical heritage.
The Tashkent International Biennale has been held every two years since 2001. This year’s event focuses on the human condition on the threshold of technological and cultural change.
According to the biennale’s concept, Tashkent, located at the crossroads of ancient caravan routes, is presented as an “oasis” symbolizing hope and the search for new meanings.
The official opening will take place on 12 October at the Central Exhibition Hall. In the following days, exhibitions will be held at the Tashkent House of Photography, the Kamoliddin Behzod Museum of Miniature Art of the East, the Uzbekistan State Museum of Arts and the Ikuo Hirayama International Cultural Caravanserai.
The biennale program will also feature performances, master classes and an international scientific and practical conference.
A separate event will be the “Charhpalaq” exhibition, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.
The biennale will conclude on 16 October.
The 10th Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art, held in 2024, brought together more than 40 international artists and other participants from around 30 countries.
