Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The “Hearts of Four – Bridge of Friendship” international theater festival will be held in Tashkent from 13 to 20 October 2026. The event is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Uzbekistan, Dunyo news agency reported.
The festival will bring together theater directors and chief directors from five countries — Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The week-long programme will feature performances, professional master classes and discussions.
The official opening ceremony will take place on 14 October at the State Young Spectator’s Theatre of Uzbekistan. As part of the ceremony, the theater’s actors will present the “Masharaboz Show.”
The professional programme will continue that day at the Russian House in Tashkent with a panel discussion on repertoire policy. Leading Russian theater critics will take part in the discussion.
An educational programme will form a separate part of the festival. From 15 to 19 October, actors from the State Youth Theatre of Uzbekistan and the State Academic Russian Drama Theatre of Uzbekistan will be able to attend classes on stage speech and the acting system of Mikhail Chekhov.
Performances will be staged at Tashkent theaters. On 15 October, the State Youth Theatre of Uzbekistan will present “Puppy,” a production based on stories by Leonid Andreyev and created by the Kostanay Regional Russian Drama Theatre.
The following day, 16 October, the State Academic Russian Drama Theatre of Uzbekistan will host a performance of “The Lonely Boat.”
The theater will later also stage the comedy “Samanishvili’s Stepmother.” Festival participants will be presented with diplomas following the performance.
The theater programme will conclude on 19 October with “Viy,” a production by Perm’s U Mosta Theatre based on Nikolai Gogol’s novella of the same name.
The festival will bring together members of the theater communities of Central Asian countries and Russia through a programme combining theatrical performances, professional exchange and discussions on the development of theater.
