Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent has completed routine maintenance at 37 boiler houses and on 441 km of heating networks as part of preparations for the autumn-winter season of 2026–2027.
Sherzod Sultonov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Issiqlikta’minoti JSC, announced the figures at a briefing held at the Media Content Preparation Centre.
According to Sultonov, major repairs have been carried out on 79.4 km of heating networks and at 37 boiler houses. In other regions of Uzbekistan, routine maintenance has been completed at 77 boiler houses and on 42 km of heating networks.
Modernisation of the heating system is also under way. Saudi company Saudi Tabreed will invest $20.3 million in converting the RK-1 boiler house in Nukus to modern cogeneration technology, which allows electricity and heat to be produced simultaneously.
The project includes construction of a cogeneration plant, installation of 28 km of new heating networks and 189 individual heating units. Once completed, it is expected to provide centralised heating to 22,880 residents and reduce system losses to 30%.
Work is continuing to connect apartment buildings in the Yangi Uzbekistan residential areas to the centralised heating system. So far, 117 km of heating networks have been laid and 37 heating boilers installed.
Other priorities include improving the energy efficiency of the heating system and introducing alternative technologies.
