State Competition Committee to receive 4,400 complaints from consumers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for privatization, demonopolization and development of competition is conducting a work on protection of consumer rights.

The committee said in a statement that the study of the activities in this area shows that consumer culture is increasing in Uzbekistan and mechanism of self-governing is boosting.

The committee and its territorial bodies received 4,400 complaints and applications from consumers, of which 48.5% were submitted in written form and 51.5% via telephone.

It added that about 59.1% of appeals fell to share of communal services, 19.4% - trade and catering, 9.7% - transport and communication sphere, and 11.8% - other services.

Within the conduct works, the committee helped consumers to return some 958.3 million soums.

The committee underlined that corresponding measures were adopted on 40% of received calls via hotline and on 60% of calls, the committee gave explanation within its jurisdiction.
