Semavik Strengthens Leadership in Uzbekistan Market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Demand for modern approaches to the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes continues to grow in Uzbekistan.

Semavik and Semavik Next have secured leading positions in the country’s semaglutide segment. According to IQVIA data covering the period from April 2025 to March 2026, the two brands accounted for a combined 55.8% share of the market in value terms.

The semaglutide segment remains one of the fastest-growing categories within Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical market, showing sustained expansion in the use of modern therapies for endocrine and metabolic disorders.

“Today, increasing attention is being paid to the early diagnosis and management of type 2 diabetes and obesity. Semaglutide-based medicines are used as part of a comprehensive approach to the treatment of these conditions,” said Feruza Alimovna, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, chief physician of Vitamed Medical Clinic, and chair of the Association of Endocrinologists of Uzbekistan.

She emphasized that drug therapy should only be considered when medically indicated and does not replace diagnosis, lifestyle modification, or regular medical supervision.

GEROPHARM, the manufacturer of Semavik and Semavik Next, has been present in the Uzbek market for more than 20 years. The company has registered a broad portfolio of medicines in the country, including insulin products and treatments for socially significant diseases.

“We regard Uzbekistan as one of GEROPHARM’s priority markets. We are consistently expanding our product portfolio and strengthening our presence in the country. It is important for us to support the development of modern medical approaches and help ensure that patients have access to up-to-date therapeutic solutions,” said Pyotr Rodionov, Chief Executive Officer of GEROPHARM.

The market share figures are based on IQVIA data for the period from April 2025 to March 2026.

The company noted that all medicines, including treatments for obesity and type 2 diabetes, should be used only under a physician’s prescription and supervision. Patients are advised to consult a healthcare professional before starting treatment, as self-medication may be harmful to health.
