Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Y. Dzhumayev, principal of School No. 69 in Karshi district, Kashkadarya Region, has been held administratively liable for forcing teaching staff to perform work outside their official duties. Uzbekistan’s State Labour Inspectorate reported.

Information about possible violations had previously appeared on social media. The State Labour Inspectorate conducted an inspection in accordance with established procedures and confirmed the reports.

Based on the violations identified, the official was subject to administrative liability under Article 51 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Responsibility, which provides for liability for administrative coercion to labour.

The State Labour Inspectorate stressed that forced labour is a violation of the law.
