Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Tashkent Traffic Management Center (CODD) has published daily traffic statistics for the capital for the first time, reporting that 1,502,057 vehicles travelled on the city’s streets and roads on 4 September. The Tashkent Traffic Management Center said.

The figure was 14,807 vehicles, or about 1%, higher than on 3 September, when 1,487,250 vehicles travelled on roads across the capital.

Public transport carried more than 2 million passengers during the day. A total of 1,670 buses operated on 170 routes, carrying 1,228,158 passengers. The Tashkent Metro transported another 862,053 passengers during the same period.

The CODD Situation Center also monitored congestion levels at intersections across the city. During peak hours, congestion reached seven points at six intersections, while the indicator exceeded seven points at one other intersection.

To reduce congestion on the busiest sections, specialists adjusted the operating schedules of traffic lights.

The duration of green signals was extended on some routes. In addition, road patrol officers were sent to congested intersections to help regulate traffic.

A total of 4,751 traffic violations were recorded in Tashkent during the day. Over the same period, 22 road accidents occurred, leaving four people with serious bodily injuries.

The Traffic Management Center noted that comparable daily statistics on traffic in Tashkent and Uzbekistan had not previously been published.

The center said publication of such data would become a regular practice.
