Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Russian transport authorities have shown interest in the Trans-Afghan Railway project, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan, Mirziyoyev noted that the Russian side had expressed interest in participating in the development of the technical justification for the project and its promotion.
The head of Uzbekistan emphasized that the issue was discussed during the visit of Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev to Uzbekistan.
The Trans-Afghan Highway is estimated to cost US$5 billion and is expected to improve transport links and reduce delivery times for goods.
