Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- On 15 January 2019, Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) launched a new passenger train on the route Bukhara - Khiva - Bukhara.

The traing, which includes the "Econom", "Business" and "VIP" classes, consists of 12 cars. Also, in order to organize high-class services, the work of the dining car was organized.

In accordance with the established timetable, trains between Bukhara and Khiva will be operated on odd days of the month at 12:05. The train will arrive in Khiva railway station at 5:50 pm on the same day.

The trains from Khiva to Bukhara will run on even days of the month. From Khiva railway station, the passenger train will depart at 08:45 and arrive in Bukhara at 14:48 on the same day.

It should be noted that in 2018, Uzbekistan Railways for completed a project on construction of a new railway line from the city of Urgench to the city of Khiva with a length of 33.78 km (the main road 29.6 km). The project cost was US$35.9 million. In addition, as part of a project in Khiva, a modern railway station was built and put into operation, capable of simultaneously serving about 200 passengers.

It should be noted that currently passenger trains in the new direction of Bukhara - Khiva are being driven by diesel locomotives. In the future, after the completion of the electrification of the Bukhara-Misken-Khiva railway line, high-speed trains Afrosiyob will be launched along this route. This will make it possible to create favorable conditions for the new tourist route, uniting in a single transport route such cities as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
