New Zealand earns first point at World Cup finals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- New Zealand Winston Reid scored a dramatic injury-time equalizer to earn the first point in the FIFA World Cup.

New Zealand faced debutants Slovakia at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. Robert Vittek headed goal to the net in the 50th minute. Slovakia had looked on course for three points, but New Zealand continued to search for equalizer.

Defender Reid headed the ball into the back of the net, three minutes into stoppage time, to earn the All Whites their first ever point at a World Cup finals.
