Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the RomPharm NS pharmaceutical plant in Tashkent’s Almazar district to review its production capabilities and future plans.
The company specialises in producing medicines for the domestic market and expanding the manufacture of import-substituting products. Its planned annual capacity is expected to reach up to 1 billion tablets, 500 million capsules and 120 million sachets.
RomPharm NS is among the first full-cycle production complexes in Central Asia with its own quality-control laboratory operating in accordance with European Union GMP standards.
The project attracted €45 million in investment. The production complex occupies 1.7 hectares and has created 150 new jobs. The level of production automation reaches 90%. Equipment for the plant was supplied from Italy, Germany, Austria, the United States, Switzerland and Bulgaria.
The company’s products are intended to replace imported medicines. In particular, the plant produces medicines for use in neurology and cardiology, regulation of metabolic processes and treatment of inflammatory diseases.
The development of pharmaceutical production is being carried out in accordance with the presidential decree “On Additional Measures to Accelerate the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry” dated 28 January 2025. The document provides for expanding the industry’s production capacity and introducing modern technologies.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev stressed the need to further increase production capacity through the use of modern technologies and ensure the domestic market is supplied with high-quality medicines. He also emphasised the importance of reducing dependence on imports and creating new jobs in the pharmaceutical industry.
The president was also presented with plans for the further development of RomPharm NS.
