Mirziyoyev Inspects New Technical School in Urgench
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Khorezm Technical School of Advanced Professional Excellence and the Professions Town located on its campus in Urgench, UzDaily.uz reported, citing the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Constructed using 72.4 billion soums allocated from the state budget, the 5.2-hectare facility aims to train mid-level specialists tailored to modern labor market demands. The campus features two academic buildings with a total capacity of 1,100 students, a 300-bed dormitory, a sports hall, a 200-seat cafeteria, and two equipped modern workshops.
Education at the institution incorporates advanced curricula from Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, China, and South Korea, utilizing a dual education system that combines theoretical instruction with direct on-the-job training. For the 2026–2027 academic year, 200 students were admitted across 11 professional fields following a competitive selection process designed in close collaboration with employers to support post-graduation job placement. The school also serves as a practical training hub for other vocational institutions in the Khorezm region, with approximately 4,300 students gaining practical skills in its laboratories and workshops. Similar technical schools are planned for Karakalpakstan and other regions.
During his visit, Mirziyoyev also inspected the Professions Town complex, designed for early career guidance and talent identification. The facility allows students to work with modern equipment across key sectors including transport and logistics, industry and construction, services, agriculture, and green energy. Operating in partnership with major employers, the complex integrates career orientation, practical skill acquisition, and job placement into a single training system. Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of high-quality vocational education aligned with employer needs and called for replicating the model across the country.
