Magnit Begins Direct Vegetable Procurement from Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russia’s retail chain Magnit has begun direct purchases of agricultural products from Uzbekistan, launching vegetable supplies through an agro-aggregator model.
The new format of cooperation is aimed at ensuring a stable supply of fresh vegetables and fruits during seasonal shortages of domestic production.
The first shipment consisted of 17 tonnes of carrots from the Ferghana Valley, which has already been delivered to the distribution center in Sterlitamak. The supply chain is organized in cooperation with Uzagrostar Holding: farms deliver produce to the partner’s warehouses, where it is prepared for shipment in accordance with Magnit’s standards. The company provides consulting and logistical support throughout the process.
As part of long-term cooperation plans, at least 1,500 tonnes of vegetables and fruits from Uzbekistan are expected to be supplied under direct contracts in 2026.
The implemented model reduces the number of intermediaries, speeds up delivery to retail outlets, and expands the availability of fresh products outside the traditional harvest season.
