Kyrgyzstan Opens New Border Post Near Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new border post, Sogment, has been inaugurated in the village of Sogment in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken District to protect a more than 12-kilometre section of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.
According to the Presidential Representative Office in Batken Region, the new facility is part of ongoing efforts to develop security infrastructure in the country's border areas.
The opening ceremony was attended online by Kyrgyz Border Service Chairman Abdikarim Alimbaev. Presidential Representative in Batken Region Mamyrzhan Rakhimov, local government officials and military personnel were present at the site.
Speakers at the event congratulated border service personnel on their professional holiday and emphasized the importance of the new facility for strengthening national security and ensuring stability along the state border.
Modern conditions have been created for personnel serving at the new post. A new barracks building has been constructed, along with the necessary infrastructure to support the work and accommodation of servicemen.
