Global Tech Weekend to Debut in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent will host the international technology movement Global Tech Weekend for the first time from 15 to 17 May 2026. The event will bring together startup founders, investors, engineers, and representatives of the innovation ecosystem.

More than 40 parallel events are scheduled across the Uzbek capital during the three-day program. Activities will take place at universities, accelerators, innovation centers, and cultural venues throughout Tashkent. Organizers expect thousands of participants from the technology community and more than 120 international and regional speakers.

Global Tech Weekend is designed as a citywide platform combining expert sessions, panel discussions, investor meetings, and presentations by entrepreneurs. Unlike traditional conferences, the events will be distributed across multiple locations in the city.

The event is organized by IT Park Uzbekistan in partnership with international organizations. Hosting Global Tech Weekend in Tashkent is viewed as part of efforts to develop the country’s technology ecosystem and strengthen Uzbekistan’s role in Central Asia.

Among the announced speakers for the GTW Tashkent 2026 Tech Festival is Shamil Ibragimov, Research Director at the Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has worked in public policy, innovation ecosystems, and public sector transformation for more than 20 years.

Other confirmed participants include Maxim Paradi of France, founder of United Founders, and Luciano Freitas of Brazil, co-founder and CEO of Aftermoon Agency. Their presentations will focus on startup development and capital markets.

Registration for GTW Tashkent 2026 remains open until 14 May.
