Ferghana region’s GRP up 6.8% in 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ferghana region of Uzbekistan posted 6.8% growth of the gross regional product (GRP) in 2009 compared to 2008.

Industrial output increased by 6.3% and agriculture production rose by 6.8% in the reporting period. The volume of service grew by 24.5% and retail trade turnover up 14.6% in 2009, UzA reported.

About 12 enterprises were created in Ferghana region with participation of foreign investments. Thirty-one enterprises of the region helped the region to save US$90 million, producing import-replacing goods.
