Fed Cup: Uzbekistan beats South Korea to advance to play-off

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan outplayed South Korea in the third match of Pool B of the Group I of the Asia and Oceania zone of the Federation Cup and advanced to promotion play-off.

In the first rubber, Sabina Sharipova defeated So-Ra Lee in straight sets 6:1 and 6:1, while Nigina Abduraimova beat Su Jeong Jang in three sets 1:6, 7:5 and 6:3.

In the result, Uzbekistan clinched its third victory in its pool to advance to promotion play-off.

Dmitry Timoshevich’s side will face Thailand, which topped Pool A to receive right to play in the World Group II play-offs.

The matches of the group are taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan.
