Fabio Cannavaro Calls 2026 World Cup Important Experience for Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Fabio Cannavaro, the head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team, reviewed his team's performance at the post-match press conference.
In their final group-stage match, Uzbekistan suffered a 1-3 defeat against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Evaluating the final group match, the Italian specialist noted that his players expended a colossal amount of energy in the first half.
The coach emphasized that up until the current matchday, the team had demonstrated good physical fitness and looked respectable in this component, despite facing an opponent that was excellently prepared athletically. Cannavaro added that the coaching staff was initially aware of the difficulty of playing without total control of the ball.
Analyzing the course of the match, the head coach pointed to a loss of concentration in the second half of the meeting. According to the specialist, the Uzbekistan national team played the first half at a high level, creating a series of dangerous chances at the opponent's goal. However, positional and tactical errors increased after the break, which ultimately led to the conceded goals.
Summing up the participation in the world championship, Fabio Cannavaro stated that the tournament provided tremendous practical experience both to him personally and to all the football players. The coach expressed confidence that the lessons learned at such a level will serve as a powerful additional motivation for the further professional growth of the team in the future.
The Italian specialist also acknowledged that during regular discussions within the squad, the players clearly understood the strength of their group opponents, but the final result of the performance left the coaching staff and team members with a feeling of deep disappointment.
