Uzbekistan Approves Rules for Imports Using Foreign Certificates

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Government of Uzbekistan has approved new rules governing foreign economic activity that simplify customs clearance procedures for imported goods.

According to the Ministry of Justice's legal information channel, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 324 approving regulations on the issuance of confirmations for imported goods based on foreign certificates of conformity.

The document establishes a mechanism for recognising foreign authorisation documents confirming the safety and quality of products.

Under the new regulations, importers will be able to obtain electronic confirmation from authorised government bodies for the import of goods into Uzbekistan.

The procedure is based on authorisation documents issued outside Uzbekistan.

Electronic confirmation issued in accordance with the established procedure will serve as the official basis for releasing imported goods for free circulation on the domestic market.

To complete the procedure, applicants must submit an electronic application to the customs authorities together with copies of documents confirming that the products comply with international or foreign standards.

The application must include accurate information, including the transit declaration number, the product name and its code under the Commodity Nomenclature for Foreign Economic Activity, as well as the name of the manufacturer and the country of origin.

Applicants must also provide the full details of the foreign certificates and, where required by law, any additional supporting documents.

The customs authorities will forward the submitted information to the relevant government agencies for review. Following their approval, the final customs clearance of the goods will be completed through the integrated information system.
