EDCF to help Uzbekistan to create e-library

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF, South Korea) provided a US$14 million loan to Uzbekistan to create single electronic library network.

The loan will be used to purchase of equipment for creation of two center s – multimedia center and scanning center. The EDCF loan was issued for 40 years under interest rate of 0.1% APR.

Uzbekistan plans to create single digital library network with the cost of US$40 million by the end of 2015. The network will unite 5,700 public libraries and 1,200 information-educational centers with total library fund of about 40 million books and publications.

In the result of the project, these publications will be available for population across Uzbekistan.
