Costco and AEON to Expand Imports from Ferghana Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Major global retail chains, including Costco and AEON, plan to increase imports of fruit, vegetables, and agricultural products grown in Uzbekistan’s Ferghana region for their stores in Japan.

During a working visit to Japan, Hokim of Ferghana region Khayrullo Bozorov visited a warehouse for Uzbek agricultural products located in Chiba Prefecture. The facility was established in cooperation between the Japanese company Washin Trading Co., Ltd and the Uzbek enterprise Quva Agrostar.

A new warehouse complex with a total area of 1,500 square meters is currently nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned in the coming days. The expansion is set to strengthen logistics capabilities and increase export volumes from the Ferghana region.

During talks with the management of Washin Trading Co., Ltd, the parties reached agreements to further expand cooperation and increase supply volumes.

The sides had previously signed agreements to boost exports of raspberries, plums, melons, and dried fruits to the Japanese market.

The Ferghana regional delegation also focused on developing the region’s strawberry cluster, studying the experience of Japanese producers and logistics operators.
