CEC chief: Over 56% of voters cast their ballots

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- As of 13:00 over 56% of voters cast their ballots in the elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan (CEC) Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalov said at the briefing.

He noted that over 34% of 20.789 million voters of Uzbekistan casted their votes till 10:00 of Tashkent time.

In line with the article 44 of the law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan”, which requires at least 33% voters turnout, the elections to the Legislative Chamber are considered as having taken place, he added.

As of 13:00 Tashkent time, 11.8 million voters out of 20.789 million casted their votes in the elections. This makes up 56.8% of the voters.

He added that the CEC did not receive any information on violations of election legislation during the voting.
