Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Cameras have been installed on Ferghana Highway in Tashkent to monitor traffic in dedicated “A” bus lanes. The system covers a six-kilometre stretch in both directions.
According to Tashkent’s Traffic Management Centre, cameras are also being introduced in stages on other city streets to give public transport priority.
The measures are part of the capital’s transport infrastructure development, which includes the construction of new bus rapid transit (BRT) sections and the expansion of the dedicated bus lane network.
Vehicles not authorised to use the “A” lanes are prohibited from entering them between 06:00 and 23:00.
The dedicated lanes are intended to ensure uninterrupted bus movement and adherence to schedules.
According to the Traffic Management Centre, more than 50 passengers can travel on a single bus at a time, so cars entering these lanes can cause delays for a significant number of people.
Drivers are urged to obey road signs and markings, avoid using bus lanes during restricted hours and consider the interests of other road users.
