Brest region and Uzbek regions approve cooperation roadmaps
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Brest region of Belarus and the Bukhara and Sirdaryo regions of Uzbekistan have signed cooperation roadmaps for the 2026–2027 period. The documents were signed within the framework of the III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan, which aims to develop interregional interaction, expand economic ties, and implement joint projects.
The working visit of the Uzbek delegations began with a visit to the Brest Hero-Fortress memorial complex, where participants laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and familiarized themselves with the history of the fortress's defense.
The main negotiations took place at the Brest Regional Executive Committee, chaired by the head of the region, Petr Parkhomchik.
The parties discussed cooperation in the fields of the agro-industrial complex, food security, industrial cooperation, woodworking, logistics, and humanitarian ties, and they reviewed new opportunities for expanding interaction.
The Deputy Khokim of the Bukhara region, Rizo Raupovich Asadov, noted that the parties have already reached preliminary agreements on cooperation in flax and cotton processing and the manufacturing of related products, and they discussed projects in agriculture and livestock breeding. According to him, the achieved agreements are planned to be structured as a roadmap for further implementation.
The Deputy Khokim of the Sirdaryo region for Investment, Bobur Alisher Khudzhamov, reported that the Uzbek delegation also sees broad prospects for cooperation in industry, agriculture, livestock breeding, the furniture sector, pharmaceuticals, and medicine. He emphasized that the delegation includes business representatives who are ready to discuss specific investment projects.
The Deputy Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Mikhail Batsenko, noted the consistent development of interregional ties with Uzbekistan.
According to him, trade turnover between the sides grew fourfold between 2021 and 2025, and it has increased by more than 35% in the current year. He also reported that more than 70 business representatives from the Brest region who are interested in developing cooperation with Uzbek partners will participate in the plenary session of the forum.
The negotiations concluded with the signing of roadmaps to develop cooperation between the Brest region and the Bukhara and Sirdaryo regions of Uzbekistan for 2026–2027.
