Andijan and Grodno Regions Agree to Expand Agri-Business and Furniture Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An official delegation from the Andijan region, led by Khokim Shukhratbek Abdurakhmanov during an official visit to Belarus, held negotiations with the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Yuri Karayev.
Following the meeting, the parties outlined four priority areas of cooperation aimed at developing trade and economic ties and implementing joint investment initiatives.
One of the key focus areas will be interaction in the livestock sector. The two sides are exploring the possibility of acquiring unused livestock complexes in the Grodno region to establish meat production facilities specifically dedicated to supplying the Uzbek market.
Another promising venture involves potato cultivation. The delegations discussed a project aimed at growing high-yielding varieties of potatoes across an area of approximately 3,000 hectares within the Grodno region.
In addition, an agreement was reached on the supply of high-quality timber from Belarus to provide essential raw materials for furniture manufacturing enterprises in Uzbekistan.
Cooperation in the furniture industry will be developed in phases. During the initial stage, manufacturers from the Grodno region will be provided with retail spaces in a major furniture center located in the Altynkul district of the Andijan region. Looking ahead, the parties intend to establish joint furniture manufacturing operations directly on Uzbek territory.
At the conclusion of the talks, representatives of the Andijan and Grodno regions confirmed their readiness to further expand trade, economic, and investment cooperation, agreeing to ensure the implementation of the approved projects within the shortest possible timeframe.
