Belarus and Uzbekistan target US$1 billion agricultural trade by 2030
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A working meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus between Deputy Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits and a delegation from Uzbekistan led by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Director of the Agency for Livestock Development and Pasture Management, Orif Butayev.
The negotiations took place ahead of the III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, the parties signed an action plan aimed at increasing bilateral trade in food products and agricultural raw materials to US$1 billion by 2030.
The document outlines the intentions of the two countries to increase mutual export volumes, actively utilize the mechanisms of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, and expand cooperation within the agro-industrial complex.
During the talks, it was noted that during the first four months of 2026, exports of Belarusian agricultural products to Uzbekistan increased by nearly 50%, while shipments of meat and dairy products demonstrated multi-fold growth.
The parties paid particular attention to the implementation of a major investment project to establish a full-cycle poultry production enterprise in the Tashkent region. The project is being implemented using Belarusian technologies, and the manufactured products are already supplied to markets in CIS countries.
"We have reached a level of trust that allows us to skip formal protocol statements and move straight to substantive engagement. Today we are focused on deepening cooperation in livestock breeding, while simultaneously developing interaction in crop production and other areas of the agro-industrial complex," Aleksandr Yakovchits noted.
In turn, Orif Butayev emphasized that bilateral cooperation is developing dynamically and possesses significant potential.
"Our countries still have a large unrealized potential, which we have no intention of putting off until 2030. The responsibility and reliability of our partners allow us to implement joint projects significantly ahead of schedule," he stated.
The parties confirmed their readiness to further expand interaction. An additional impetus for the development of cooperation is expected from the signing of a memorandum of intent in the agro-industrial sector, which will take place within the framework of the III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan in Minsk.
