Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A 175 MW energy storage system with a capacity of 350 MWh was connected to the power grid in the Zangiata district of Tashkent region on 4 September 2026, according to Uzbekistan's Energy Ministry. The US$85 million project was implemented using foreign investments.

On the day of the connection, Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjayev visited the facility to review the launch process and grid integration. The system is currently connected to the power grid, with full capacity operation planned by the end of September 2026.

Designed to enhance power grid stability during peak demand periods, the facility will allow stored electrical energy to be utilized twice daily for two hours during each session. The Energy Ministry said using the stored power during high-demand hours will stabilize grid operations.
