Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Andijan International Airport received a Boeing 777-300 cargo aircraft operated by Challenge Air Cargo for the first time after it arrived from Liège, Belgium. The aircraft delivered 150 head of breeding cattle weighing a total of 82.5 tonnes to Uzbekistan.
The aircraft landed in Andijan at 06:05 local time on 21 September. Airport specialists, together with relevant services, organized the unloading of the animals, veterinary inspections and their subsequent transportation in specialized vehicles.
All operations were carried out in compliance with established veterinary and biological safety requirements.
The Boeing 777-300 is the second new type of large cargo aircraft received by Andijan Airport over the past two months. On 4 August, the airport received a Boeing 747-400F operated by the same airline, Challenge Air Cargo, for the first time.
That flight also arrived from Liège and delivered 160 head of breeding cattle weighing a total of 83.3 tonnes to Uzbekistan. The airport has therefore handled several types of wide-body cargo aircraft transporting live animals within a short period.
By the end of the year, a local entrepreneur plans to deliver about 1,000 head of breeding cattle to Uzbekistan. Air Atlanta and Challenge Air Cargo are expected to operate the subsequent shipments.
The airport’s ability to receive modern wide-body aircraft became possible following a major reconstruction of the Andijan Airport airfield complex, completed in March 2025.
As part of the reconstruction, the runway, taxiways, apron and aircraft parking stands were completely upgraded.
