About 1.73 tonnes of drugs destroyed in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Officers of National Security Service of Uzbekistan destroyed about 1.731 tonnes of drugs, which were seized by Uzbekistan law enforcement bodies, on 25 June 2010.

The drugs were burnt in gas furnace in one of the enterprises in Tashkent suburb. Representatives of the Uzbek government, international organizations and mass media participated at the burning ceremony.

In particular, about 749 kg of heroing, 649 kg of opium, 329 kg marihuana, 42.3 kg of hashish were destroyed. The officers also burnt large party of poppy straw, hemp and psychotropic means.
