Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Uzsuvtaminot JSC and China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation in water supply and sewerage in Uzbekistan, Uzsuvtaminot said.
The memorandum was signed on 11 September 2026 during a working visit by an Uzbek delegation to China led by Uzsuvtaminot Chairman Akhmad Suvankulov. During the visit, he met with China Energy Overseas Investment Chairman Yanhong Li.
The main focus of the talks was a project to build a modern drinking water treatment facility in Navoi.
The sides discussed the current status of the project, the proposed technical solutions and the next stages of implementation.
The project envisages the use of membrane technologies, including nanofiltration and microfiltration. Once completed, it will create Uzbekistan’s first large-scale drinking water treatment facility using nanofiltration technology.
The participants also considered ways to accelerate the project’s development and begin its practical implementation in the near future.
In addition, the sides agreed to jointly study new prospective projects in Uzbekistan’s water supply and sewerage sector.
Following the meeting, Uzsuvtaminot and China Energy Overseas Investment signed the memorandum of understanding aimed at further expanding cooperation.
