Uzbekistan Wins IIHF World Championship Division III B
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s national ice hockey team secured a decisive victory over Hong Kong in the final match of the 2026 IIHF World Championship (Division III, Group B), winning gold medals and earning promotion to Division III A for the next season.
Throughout the tournament, the Uzbek team demonstrated clear superiority over its opponents and high scoring performance. Dominant victories over Mongolia (26:1), the Philippines (28:3), DPR Korea (20:3), and Luxembourg (14:0), along with a confident win against the host team Hong Kong (9:4), confirmed the team’s strong preparation and ambitions.
This achievement follows the success of the junior team, which also won gold in its division at the World Championship in Hong Kong a month earlier.
Notably, such results have been consistent for the second consecutive year. In 2025, Uzbekistan’s teams also claimed world titles at tournaments held in Armenia and Thailand.
These successes reflect the ongoing efforts of the Uzbekistan Hockey Federation to develop the sport and build a competitive national team.
By winning gold, Uzbekistan has taken another step forward and will now compete in a higher division (Division III A), facing new challenges and opportunities for further growth.
