Uzbekistan to Introduce Public Phytosanitary Inspectors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan will introduce new measures to simplify phytosanitary procedures and improve export processes for fruits, vegetables, and food products, according to a presidential resolution adopted on 20 May 2025.

The document provides for a reduction in business expenses for storing goods sent for phytosanitary inspection, lowering costs to 60 billion soums.

It also establishes a reduction in the duration of phytosanitary control for imported goods with a medium phytosanitary risk level, from three working days to one.

Starting from 1 August 2026, an automated selective inspection mechanism based on a risk management system will be introduced for phytosanitary control of quarantine products. The system will be developed on the electronic portal “E-Fitouz” and integrated with the Customs Committee’s “Single Window” information system.

Separately, an experimental system of public inspectors will be introduced from August 2026 in selected fruit and vegetable-producing regions. These inspectors will carry out phytosanitary control at all stages, from production to export.

From 1 January 2029, exports of fruits and vegetables will be carried out exclusively through agro-logistics centers.
