Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Three representatives of Uzbekistan’s Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement are undergoing training in South Korea on the organisation of electronic public procurement.
The programme, held from 11 to 24 October by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Daejeon University, aims to strengthen the professional skills of public procurement specialists from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.
Participants are studying South Korea’s public procurement system and its experience in introducing digital tools. The programme includes an overview of the work of South Korea’s Public Procurement Service (PPS), the principles governing procurement procedures and the mechanisms used to regulate them.
Particular attention is being paid to KONEPS, South Korea’s integrated electronic procurement platform. Participants are examining its technical capabilities and practical applications, as well as approaches to conducting electronic tenders and ensuring transparency in procurement processes.
The training also covers the use of artificial intelligence and big data technologies in public procurement. Participants are learning about mechanisms to improve procurement efficiency, promote competition and reduce corruption risks.
Other topics include the development of electronic public procurement infrastructure and ways to adapt international experience to Uzbekistan’s conditions.
The knowledge gained is expected to support further improvements to Uzbekistan’s public procurement system, expand the use of digital technologies and increase the transparency and efficiency of procurement procedures.
The programme also seeks to strengthen international cooperation in public procurement.
