Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov held online talks on 27 August 2026 with Rovshan Najaf, President of Azerbaijan's state oil and gas company SOCAR, to discuss expanding bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.

The discussions focused primarily on the current progress of existing joint ventures and the development of new investment initiatives in the energy sector.

SOCAR is the state oil and gas company of Azerbaijan, established in 1992. Employing more than 48,000 workers, the enterprise operates across international energy markets.

In Uzbekistan, SOCAR is involved in a major hydrocarbon resource development project with an estimated investment volume of approximately US$2 billion.

Following the negotiations, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining joint efforts aimed at increasing mutual trade volumes and advancing strategic bilateral projects.
