Uzbekistan Sets New Record for Daily Electricity Demand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Unified Energy System recorded new daily records for electricity consumption and generation on 15 July, the Energy Ministry said.

Daily electricity consumption reached 288.1 million kWh, setting a new summer record. The previous record of 284 million kWh, set on 14 July, was exceeded by 4.1 million kWh, or 1.44%.

Electricity generation also reached a new high. Power plants across the country produced 291.4 million kWh during the day, surpassing the previous record of 287.3 million kWh, also set on 14 July, by 4.1 million kWh, or 1.43%.

The ministry said emergency repair teams were operating in an enhanced mode under the increased load to ensure stable electricity supplies and respond quickly to faults.

On 15 July, specialists repaired damage to sections of the electricity network in the Uchtepa, Chilanzar, Shaykhantakhur, Mirzo-Ulugbek, Yashnabad and Sergeli districts of Tashkent.

In addition, a fault was recorded at 10:56 on the L-Arsif-1 transmission line in the Ferghana region, temporarily disrupting electricity supplies to some consumers in Kuva district. The damage was repaired and power was fully restored by 11:35.

At 00:12 on 16 July, another fault was recorded at one of Tashkent's substations. As a result, temporary power outages occurred in parts of the Chilanzar and Yakkasaray districts. According to the ministry, restoration work is continuing.

The ministry said work is continuing to modernize power plants, substations, transformer facilities, transmission lines and other equipment, while projects are also being implemented to increase capacity and improve the reliability of electricity supplies during seasonal peak demand.

The Energy Ministry warned that brief power interruptions may occur in some regions during peak demand hours because of technical faults in electricity networks. It urged residents to use electricity efficiently during the period of exceptionally high temperatures.
