Uzbekistan Sets 27 May as Eid al-Adha Holiday in 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has signed a resolution establishing that the first day of the holy Eid al-Adha (Kurban Hayit) in 2026 will be observed on 27 May and declared a non-working public holiday. The document also provides for additional days off for various categories of employees.

According to the resolution, 28 May and 29 May are designated as additional non-working days for all employees regardless of work schedule, while 30 May is declared a day off for workers on a six-day workweek.

The decision was made based on information from the Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan, which confirmed that the first day of Eid al-Adha coincides with 27 May. The holiday emphasizes values of humanity, compassion, mutual assistance, and social harmony, and plays an important role in preserving the country’s spiritual and cultural traditions.

The resolution also notes that, in accordance with labor legislation, the first day of Eid al-Adha is officially recognized as a public holiday. The additional days off are established under a separate presidential decree regulating the transfer of weekends and public holidays in 2026.

A set of organizational measures has been outlined to ensure proper observance of the holiday across the regions. The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional administrations, and the Tashkent city administration have been instructed to organize events in line with national traditions, involving relevant organizations.

The Tourism Committee, together with the Ministry of Transport, has been tasked with facilitating public access to religious and historical sites during the holiday period. Media outlets have been encouraged to provide broad coverage of Eid al-Adha celebrations.
