Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and France to Launch US$78 Million Hazardous Waste Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum (TMIF-2026), a strategic trilateral partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the French Republic in the field of ecology was officially solidified.
The parties will combine efforts to implement high-tech initiatives in the field of deep processing of hazardous industrial and household waste.
Building this long-term interaction is aimed at the accelerated development of the national model of a "green" economy through the consistent introduction of the international ecological principle of "Zero Waste".
During the forum, a delegation from the domestic Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development held a series of intensive negotiations with the top management of leading foreign corporations.
The participants of the dialogue agreed that the integration of modern technological solutions and the synchronization of efforts of Central Asian countries with global industry leaders are key factors for ensuring the sustainable development of the region.
The practical result of these meetings was the signing of an official agreement of intent (Head of Terms).
The document was signed by Sharifbek Hasanov, Director of the specialized Agency of Uzbekistan, Omar Al-Midani, President of the Saudi investment company Vision International Investment Company, and Silver Delaunay, General Director for Europe and Central Asia of the French environmental giant SUEZ International.
The signed trilateral memorandum regulates the launch of a large-scale joint project, the total investment value of which is estimated at US$78 million. The infrastructure to be created will allow for the safe disposal and recycling of complex categories of waste in accordance with strict European standards.
Experts emphasize that TMIF-2026, which gathered a record 10,000 delegates from more than 100 countries around the world, clearly demonstrated the high prestige of Uzbekistan as a reliable partner and strengthened the confidence of the international business community in the deep institutional reforms being carried out in the republic.
