Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan ranked 64th out of 181 countries in the Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD).

The country climbed 11 places compared with its previous result, the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan reported.

The 2IPD assesses the development of the postal sector, the efficiency of national postal systems and their integration into international postal networks. Uzbekistan ranked 75th in the previous edition.

Postal services play an important role not only in delivering letters and parcels, but also in developing e-commerce, providing logistics services to individuals and businesses, and supporting international trade.

Modernising postal infrastructure, expanding the range of services and introducing digital solutions help improve the sector’s competitiveness.

The ministry noted that Uzbekistan’s improved ranking reflects progress in developing its national postal system, improving service quality and strengthening the country’s integration into the global postal network.

The Universal Postal Union has previously recognised Uzbekistan’s achievements in the sector. On 5 October 2023, at the strategic summit of the UPU’s Fourth Extraordinary Congress in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the country received the “Rising Star in Postal Development” award.

According to the UPU’s 2023 report, Uzbekistan Post JSC improved its position in the postal development index, rising from 115th to 74th place.
