Uzbekistan Plans Around 200 AI Projects by 2027

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to implement around 200 artificial intelligence projects over the next two years, First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Oleg Pekos said during a session held as part of the international industrial exhibition “INNOPROM. Central Asia” in Tashkent.

According to him, key areas for AI deployment include healthcare, education, transport, energy, as well as the banking sector and customs processes. More than 100 such initiatives are already underway in the country, with the total expected to double by the end of 2027.

The focus is on practical and applied solutions rather than large-scale, high-cost projects. Typically, such developments integrate multiple models into a single product. The average implementation cost is estimated at US$200,000–300,000, with a projected payback period of one to three years.

Special attention is being given to human capital development and educational programs. In cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, the “Five Million Uzbek AI Prompters” initiative is being implemented to train specialists in artificial intelligence. By 2030, the plan is to educate around 4.75 million school and university students, 150,000 teachers, and 100,000 civil servants.

Earlier, in October 2024, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the national artificial intelligence development strategy through 2030.

The document sets targets for Uzbekistan to rank among the world’s top 50 countries in the AI readiness index and to achieve a market size for AI solutions and services of US$1.5 billion.
