Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Senate Chair Tanzila Narbayeva met with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan Yerali Tugzhanov to discuss the development of bilateral cooperation.

The talks covered interparliamentary ties as well as political, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The meeting noted that the good-neighbourly and fraternal relations between the two countries continue to expand, supported by the friendly relations between their heads of state.

Particular attention was paid to interparliamentary cooperation. The sides stressed the importance of further exchanging experience in lawmaking and parliamentary oversight, as well as in working with territorial Keneshes, implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, combating corruption and ensuring gender equality.

Narbayeva and Tugzhanov also exchanged views on Kazakhstan’s ongoing constitutional reform and the country’s new parliamentary model.

The meeting noted that Kazakhstan’s new Constitution entered into force on 1 July 2026.

According to materials presented at the meeting, Kazakhstan’s parliament will operate as a unicameral Kurultai, with the first elections scheduled for 23 August.
