Uzbekistan, IWMI Discuss Water Resource Management Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 May 2026, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhronjon Aloev held talks with Director General of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) Mark Smith.
During the negotiations, the sides reviewed priority areas of cooperation, including joint implementation of projects in efficient water resource management, development of the irrigation sector, and the introduction of innovative technologies in agriculture.
Particular attention was paid to expanding practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and IWMI, as well as the implementation of joint research and educational programs.
The parties also discussed initiatives aimed at ensuring water security and sustainable development in Uzbekistan and across the Central Asian region.
